Traditional brow tint primarily colors the brow hairs, making them appear darker and more noticeable. It’s ideal for clients who already have a full brow shape and simply want their natural hairs to stand out more.

A Shape & Stain is better suited for clients who want a fuller, more structured brow appearance. Because the stain lightly tints the skin as well as the hairs, it creates a softly filled-in effect similar to brow makeup.

Shape & Stain vs. Shape & Tint

About this Technique

A Shape & Stain enhances the brows by refining their shape and creating a softly filled-in effect. After the brows are carefully shaped, a custom stain is applied to both the brow hairs and the skin beneath them.

Because the stain lightly tints the skin as well as the hairs, the result appears fuller and more defined, resembling softly filled-in brows rather than simply darker brow hairs.

What to Expect

Your Appointment

Good to Know

Before your visit

Let Them Grow

Avoid plucking, waxing, or threading for at least 2 weeks before your appointment so there is enough natural brow growth to properly shape and refine the brows.

Avoid Heavy Skincare

In the days leading up to your appointment, avoid regularly applying heavy oils, balms, or thick creams to the brow area, as buildup can affect how evenly the stain develops.

Prolong Your Results

Avoid excessive rubbing or exfoliating the brow area after your service to help the stain last as long as possible and maintain its definition.

Clean Brows

Arrive with clean, product-free brows. Remove any brow makeup or skincare from the area before your appointment so the stain can adhere evenly.

How Long Will the Stain Last?

Results & Longevity

Results vary based on skin type, skincare products, and daily cleansing habits. Oily skin and exfoliating products may cause the stain to fade more quickly.

ON SKIN

7–10 days

The skin stain gradually fades with normal cleansing, skincare, and natural skin turnover.

ON BROW HAIRS

3–4 wks

The tint on the brow hairs typically lasts several weeks before gradually softening as the brows naturally shed.

MAINTENANCE

4–6 wks

Most clients return every 4–6 weeks to refresh the shape and stain and maintain a polished brow appearance.

For a fuller, more sculpted brow.
